Field Day!

Field Day is on Friday, May 17th and it will take place at ISLA. The alternate day in case of bad weather will be Friday, May 24th. Field Day is a non uniform day for students and I encourage them to bring sport clothes and comfortable tennis shoes. We will have two sessions for Field Day:

- Morning session from 10:00 - 12:00 for PreK - Second grade.

- Afternoon session from 1:15 - 3:15 for Third - Sixth grade.

Please make sure your kid brings a water bottle and sunscreen. Everyone is invited to come and watch!

Come lend a hand and spend the day with your kids as they enjoy Field Day!  Sr. Diaz needs help with the food/drink station. Please sign up through the following link:

MDE Redesigning Assessment Reports – Your Voice Matters!

Families, educators, and students (grades 8–12): Do you have ideas about how the statewide assessment results, like the MCA, could be shared with the public and school and district staff?

MDE is beginning the process of redesigning the statewide assessment reports. This includes evaluating how student results are organized and communicated (including the labels like "does not meet” or “exceeds" the standards, and what the reports will look like for new academic standards). The redesigned reports will be seen for the first time in summer and fall 2025.

Please take the survey to share your experience. It should take no longer than 15 minutes. The survey is now open for submissions until May 19. Responses are completely anonymous.

Your voice is important to this process. We appreciate your time and consideration.

Please reach out to mde.testing@state.mn.us with any questions or concerns about the survey or feedback process.

ISLA families:

I am the mentor for an Exhibition Group consisting of Gia, Avery, Charlie, Vivian and Chloe. Their project is inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal “Zero Hunger”. The group has a plan of action consisting of conducting an ISLA School Food Drive to be held next week on May 8, 9, and 10. They set a goal of collecting 500 lbs of non-perishable foods to be contributed to the ICA Food Shelf in Minnetonka.

Please consider donating generously by either sending with your child a grocery bag of donated food on any of the days indicated above, or by making a monetary contribution to ICA by using the QR Code attached below. Donations using this code will be tracked to ISLA and reported back to the group. Sorry, but we cannot accept cash or checks at ISLA.

Your child may place donated food items in the large boxes positioned in both the upper and lower entrances of the school. If students prefer they may also take donations to their classrooms and members of the group will transfer items to the central location. The group has decided not to make use of any competition measures between the grades or classes. All donations are according to ability.

Please help this enthusiastic group of five make their food drive a success.
